How do you work from home?

Published by tracylyn under Uncategorized Edit This

I can’t tell you how many times I get this from people. They want to know how to work from home, thinking it’s so easy, that you just kick back on the couch and watch soaps all day while your paychecks roll in. I’ve been working from home for nearly 2 years now, after being laid off from my job. My daughter was about 4 months old at that time, and I’m so lucky that I have able to be at home with her each day. But let me tell you, if you think it’s easy, you better think again. There are times when I think it would be easier if I worked outside of the house, but the nearly $200 a week childcare is what kills it for me. So here I am.

My main income is from selling on Ebay. I’m a Powerseller, and I love it! I sell mainly clothing, and health and beauty type things (makeup, discontinued items, etc.) I sell my daughter’s things she outgrows, as well as yard sale and thrift store finds. I also do surveys for a couple of different places. The tricky thing about it though, now that my daughter is bigger is that my only time to “work” is naptime. So if she decides to skip a nap today, I get nothing done.  But I must say, I do love it. We go to a thrift store about 2 times a month to look for things to sell, as well as stop at yard sales in the spring when they seem to be everywhere. I look for name brands of clothing mostly, among other things. I’ll go into more detail about what I sell and how I sell it this week on another post.

If you are thinking of getting started with Ebay, good luck, it can be done!

Could you use a free facial?

You can get a free 40 minute facial with this certificate http://www.clubs4women.com/coupons/clarins/facial.html to any Clarins store. You should call ahead to make your appointment.  Sounds like a great freebie to me- we could all use a little pampering. I’m going to call in the morning to see if I can go one day this week. I need a little relaxing, even if it is only for 40 minutes.

free Glucerna cereal - printable coupon

Go print your coupon for $5.00 off any Glucerna cereal, which makes it free at most stores. Once you print, it will expire in 30 days. Hit the back button, and refresh to get another one to print.  I haven’t personally tried this cereal, but a friend of mine who is diabetic likes it, so I will be printing them for her.

free Rachel Ray’s Big Orange Book

This is a great deal, mentioned in the April issue of Everyday With Rachel Ray. It says that if you send in a UPC and receipt from one of the following: Crocs, Pepperidge Farm Pastry Sheets, Snyder’s of Hanover, or Funjet Vacations, you will get the book free. Limit one per customer, while supplies last, allow 6-8 weeks for delivery of the book. The address to send to is: Everyday With Rachel Ray, 16 East 34th Street, New York, NY 10016, Attn: Spring Ahead. Sounds like a great deal, considering the pretzels and pastry sheets are pretty cheap. ALso, don’t forget if you go to Publix, they have coupons for a free bag of Snyders when you buy two cases of I think it was Coke products. Not bad!

Things you don’t want to see when house shopping…

Published by tracylyn under Uncategorized Edit This

You know when you go to someone’s home, you never know what to expect. Are they a slob? A clean freak? The way a house looks on the outside doesn’t necessarily always match how it looks on the inside. At least not in this case. We went to see the inside of a home for sale this weekend. It’s in a nice neighborhood, the outside of the house is cute, nice, neat yard and all. When we walked through the door though, it was obvious something had happened. This looked nothing like the pictures we saw on the mls. There was a single chair in the living room, nothing on the walls other than pen and crayon drawings, and there were lots of those in half of the rooms. Things were all over the floor, to the point of having to step over them when you walk. Then let’s talk about the carpet. When you walked on it, you could feel that it was loose in lots of places, almost like a rug. We looked past all that, even though the house is only 7 years old. Then came the undewear- when I looked in the master bedroom’s closet, there they were–men’s underwear on the floor. The way they were sitting in the floor was like they were just taken off. I quickly closed the closet door back, and thought these people don’t really want to sell their house. Maybe they didn’t mean to leave them there, or maybe they really didn’t care? The kitchen was nice also, with something in a bowl in the sink. And i say “something” because I don’t know what it was or how long it had been sitting there.

Maybe I’m just funny about things, but what’s something you have seen in someone else’s house that made you think “eww”?

should pre-k be mandatory?

Published by tracylyn under that's life Edit This

A friend of mine was talking about pre-k enrollment, and I was curious, so I looked up the Elementary school we are zoned for, excited to see that they do offer pre-k there (since it’s not at every school around here) Upon reading more, I found that she will not be able to go to their pre-k. So, I read some more, since we may be moving. It’s offered at several good schools around our county, but not for her. It seems you have to qualify for free or reduced lunch to get to go to pre-k. I emailed to ask if maybe I was understanding wrong, which I’m sure I’m not, but nobody will even answer me. This saddens me. So, basically, if I want my daughter to be able to go to pre-k, we will have to pay tuition someplace, then switch her to the regular public school for Kindy. How is that right? I checked around and the going rate for tuition, for pre-k is $6k…. That’s what’s wrong with the government. Or at least part of it.

back to Entrecard

Published by tracylyn under Uncategorized Edit This

For some reason I have not been able to log in to Entrecard at all. It kept saying my email address could not be found, though I was still getting lots of emails for advert approvals. I deleted cookies, I did it all, and nothing worked. Finally I submitted a ticket and it was fixed this morning. Whew! I didn’t get to drop on anyone for 3-4 days, but I’m back at it now.
